Unusual and creative e-commerce design
February 15th, 2008A few days ago I found a very interesting link in my in-box, courtesy of one of my clients.
While it is always exciting to see an innovative concept executed, designers must take into consideration how appropriate the design choice is. In the case of the HEMA site, we feel it was a choice well made! The execution brings life to the standard product page for this on-line store – kudos to the design team!
HEMA is a Dutch department store. The first store opened on November 4, 1926, in Amsterdam. Now there are 150 stores all over the Netherlands. HEMA also has stores in Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. In June of this year, HEMA was sold to a British investment company named Lion Capital.
Take a look at HEMA’s product page. You can’t order anything, and it’s in Dutch, but just wait a few minutes and watch what happens.
