Find out what we know about the 230 8-11 ad spots

Internet ads, TV commercials, and even elevator screen ad spots… this mystery advertising campaign seems to tantalizing (and aggravating) the public the past few days. What the heck is it all about anyway?

When I first saw the ad I thought it was an Internet glitch…. that something was left out. Then I saw it again, and was so frustrated with it that I googled it. Seems the ad is working… I cannot wait for August 11th to find out who is trying to sell me what and the rest of the Internet seems just as interested (as well as critical). Whatever it is, it had better be phenomenal for all of the hype – otherwise this effort will result in nothing more than aggravation over a product that may have otherwise had a favorable future.

Despite Internet conspiracy theories that 2:30 8-11 is the day the power will go out, or that global warming will “hit big”, this AdAge article reveals that General Motors is behind the campaign, even though they will say exactly what the campaign is for.

For those of you who have not seen the ad spot, you can see it on the YouTube channel or check out the<del> Flickr photostream</del>, blog, or even the Facebook group.

Random bit of 230 trivia: Can you name the font used to set the type?
You have until tomorrow to think about it before I post the answer =)
